Ah, baseball -- the great American pasttime never ceases to cause
disagreement. It looks like SNET Internet subscribers are fairly
loyal to the Yankees ... but that there's a sizeable number of
Red Sox fans out there too.
Which major league baseball team is more likely to go all the way this year?
- The Yankees - 1,650 (44%)
- The Red Sox - 1,063 (28%)
- The Mets - 151 (4%)
- Who cares? - 629 (17%)
- I hate baseball - 255 (7%)
Your comments:
"Can you say
'Seattle Mariners'?" Alex, Bristol
"Although Iam a Yankees fan, you are forgetting the Seattle
Mariners. They have the best record in MLB and are a great team."
K.T., Ledyard
"I have evolved into a Red SoxfFan over the past few years
as a teenager. Knowing I am a Red Sox fan I can deal with losing
and care more past the world series. It is just a matter of time.
I had a teacher tell me he has had a rough life being a Sox fan
and we should get out. I'm in for the long ride and hope for a great
year. Just trying to look past Bill Buckner's E3 in game 5 of the
World Series in 1986. GO RED SOX!" Eric, Bristol
"I would like any sport if they did not pay the players so much money and if it went back to being a team sport not just the super jock!" G.L., Guilford
"Went to the Sunday game and watched NY 'smoke' Toronto. BUT
Toronto is ahead 3-1 in this series so why don't we get to put in
the team we "really" think will go all the way? LIKE TORONTO
BLUE JAYS! BOSTON COULDN'T BEAT A RUG! Fenway Park should be turned
into a hazardous waste dump! Their hockey and basketball teams s*ck
too!" Bubba, Bristol
"Who cares about baseball, there is no skill involved with
it all that you have to do is hit a ball and run to some bases.
How much fun is that? Oh and you got to catch the ball too. A sport
that takes some real talent is soccer. Let's get those baseball
players on a soccer field and have them run down the field while
dribbling the ball, and dodging other player while trying to keep
from being called off sides or being slide tackled and then trying
to score a goal. And you do all this without your hands. I would
have to say baseball is a little kids sport just like softball."
Kieth, Lisbon
"I must say that you should have also entered another option of another team. I myself hope that none of those teams get in. Well, the New York ones anyway. I don't really mind if the Red Sox get in, no problem with them at all. Actually, I would love for them to get in over the Yankees. As far as National League I definately choose The Atlanta Braves." J.W., Naugatuck
"I used to be a Pirate fan. Still could be, if there was local
coverage. The Yankees (ptui) are the best baseball money can buy.
If you pay your people the GNP of a third world nation, they will
play baseball as well as possible. Salaries like that strip the
competition of capable players, making the games monotonously one
sided. I will start liking the Red Sox, when all the fans apologize
to Bill Buckner. He got the Sox to the place they were. It was the
best season since the Bambino jumped ship for the (ptui) Yankees.
Remember, When the Yankees face the Pirates, they usually lose the
big games. 1960 says it all!" Jon, Glastonbury
