AT&T customers are being targeted by a new phishing scam
(08/31/2006)

To All SNET Internet Customers,

AT&T customers are being targeted by a new phishing scam from the website:
http://sbcdslstore.org/veri.php

This scam works by first sending an email to AT&T customers advising them that their recent credit card transaction at the SBC DSL store was rejected because of incomplete information on their account. They are then directed to a URL to update their account information. The URL in the email then takes the customer to a fake website, which is not an AT&T website. This website will request the customer's birth date, social security number, or other personal information.

AT&T does not request credit card, Social Security Number, or other sensitive personal information through an email.

Please do not provide your information to these individuals and do not click on any links from the email.

Example of fraudulent email:

From: veri@SBCdslstore.com

To: (customer email address)

Subject: Your SBCdslstore.com order information !
